2 Keepers - Need Help

Postby Skippyoz » Sat Dec 27, 2008 9:45 pm

Hi,

I get two keepers. If I keep a player I don't get to pick in the round that corresponds to where he was picked last year. Who do you think I should keep? (13 Teams; 32 Roster Spots - 7 SPs, 3 RPs, 2 C/1B/2B/SS/3B, 5 OF, 7 BENCH; R/HR/RBI/SB/AVG/OBP; W/L/SV/K/ERA/WHIP)

I can one from the following group:
- John Maine (7th Round)
- Chad Billingsley (9th Round)
- Jhonny Peralta (11th Round)
- AJ Burnett (12th Round)
- Derek Lowe (13th Round)

And one from the following:
- Ubaldo Jimenez (24th Round)
- Andy Sonnanstine (27th Round)
- Jair Jurrjens (28th Round)

I think I am going to go with Billingsley and Jurrjens. I think both players will provide me with the most value, stability, and skill. My only thought is maybe taking Burnett over Billinglsey as he's on a great Yankee team and should benefit from more wins and fewer HRs given up.

Burnett and Sonnanstine. Billingsley couldn't be wrong here per se, but the upside of a Burnett year like his last two on a loaded Yankees team makes the 3 extra rounds of draft value the tie-breaker for me here.

I'll gladly take Burnett 3 ROUNDS LATER than Billingsly. Although always an injury risk, he's a fairly safe bet for 17-20 wins with 220+ k's. I suppose Billingsly could post similar numbers but why not lose your 12 round pick over your 9th round pick? I'd go Burnett here. The other is a tossup between Sonny and Jurjens....take your pick, but I'd go with Sonny.

Burnett/Sonnanstine.

I do like Burnett, but I don't think he's a 'fairly safe bet' for those numbers... he's only had more than 12 wins ONCE and more than 203 K's ONCE... and both were last year... in a contract year. I think he 'could' approach those numbers, but not a safe bet.
