That being said, Teagarden will be more expensive than Salty. And that is fair. But with the Sox refusal to part with Bowden, Buchholz, or Masterson for Salty, I cannot imagine they would give up one of them plus someone else, which is what it would require to acquire Teagarden.

I only see Montero coming here if it's part of a salary dump with Burns, but I would hope the Sox wouldn't hand him the job - he needs to prove he is capable of platooning with Tek over a guy like Kottaras.

Lol indeed. Sorry for the confusion. Pauley was on the mind for some reason.

Looks like the same 'ol same 'ol. Tek and Bard. Maybe waiting for a big time FA to become avail.? Not sure.
Salty would have been something to look forward to at least.

The Captain is coming back
SI wrote:Jason Varitek has reached a two-year agreement with the Red Sox, SI.com has learned. The captain decided to return after many twists and turns in negotiations.

The 36-year-old catcher, who has served as Boston's official team captain since 2005, is coming off of the worst offensive season of his career, hitting just .220 with 43 RBIs in 131 games.

Now if we can get a decent back-up catcher...
