I'm actually thinking good ol Pablo Sandoval is becoming overrated. He's a nice solid hitter but at this point in his career he's got limited power and he'll HAVE to hit .300+ to even be fantasy relevant at 3B....his saving grace of course is his C eligibility. Even still he's a borderline top 10 Catcher.

Yeah I just like to have the flexibility with Sandoval.

Kind of reminds me of James Loney

Is there a need to draft a sleeper 3b in the first place? The talent is so deep at the position that you can draft 25 HRs and a decent average very very late from the likes of Beltre and Glaus. Maybe Gordon breaks out, maybe he doesn't...but will anybody really be hard-pressed if they take Carlos Guillen late, with the potential to replace him with say, Mike Lowell, Melvin Mora, Ty Wigginton, Hank Blalock, Kevin Kouzmanoff, etc.? Do you really need to lock up upside at 3B before the draft if you act quick enough during the season to secure Andy LaRoche, Matt Gamel, Brett Wallace, or a number of others at the hint of a breakout?

Sandoval will never hit 20 HR.
I wouldn't be surprised if Loney gets to 25 at some point...maybe soon. He's got more power potential than most people think.

It's all about the league. If you're in "only" leagues and/or 14+ team leagues with 5OF spots, MI, CI and a couple Util spots then yeah, I think most of those guys will be taken. But standard 12 teamers there is no need for "sleeper" 3B.....or sleeper any position for that matter.

I think the term sleeper can mean many things.....

Including getting a guy in the 18th-25th round who ends up producing like a Top 10 round guy.

What are you basing this on? He was a doubles machine in the minors, and he was on pace for about 37 2B and 11 HR in '08. At age 22.

On pace for 11 HR? Don't blow my mind.
OK, ok. I'll back off a bit. Sandoval will probably not hit 20 HR.

Josh Fields, who has an ugly average but can help you everywhere else.

Joe Crede, if he lands as a starter somewhere.

Chase Headley, if he qualifies in your league.
