Keep 5 - stacked team!

Postby facekdr » Fri Dec 26, 2008 6:27 pm

we play 8 postition players, 1 utility, 3 SPs, 2 RPs, and 3 Ps. I won last year so i think im getting the last pick of 10 (not sure if we are going random or reverse order of finish)

need to keep 5 of the following:
Matt Holliday
Ian Kinsler
Joe Mauer
Jose Reyes
Alex Rodriguez
Tim Lincecum
Brandon Webb

H2H with the following stat categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, K, AVG, OPS, W, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

Please let me know who my last 2 should be, def keeping Arod, reyes, and lincecum.
Thanks!

Tough. I think I'd drop Mauer and Matt Holliday. Normally I'd keep Holliday over Webb, but I think Webb's value climbs with the CG's. With the slight Oakland question mark, he's my second drop.

pretty easy decision on those 5 imo, not keeping holliday over mauer or webb is putting way too much stock into his move.

Holliday's move to Oakland is one of the toughest issues for me this offseason. I understand the arguments either way as to whether his value stays the same or get worse. I'm just not sure which way I lean. To me, it's probably the middle road and his value dips very slightly.

His away avg has been .300 range the last couple of years, and I could see a slight drop due to league change which would also slightly impact HR and SB numbers. So, this makes Webb and Holliday close IMO, but I gave Webb the bump with the extra CG category. Again, I'm not sure which way I lean. Colorado hasn't exactly been a HR haven the last 2 years, and maybe he just bats better at home partly due to comfort and fan friendliness. :-?

i just think the move is being overrated in general by pretty much everyone and i think hes falling too far in pretty much every draft (I have him ranked around 12th overall at this point). also i think CG has a bit too much randomness involved to increase webb's value all that much, and any value webb gains there is far overshadowed by the boost holliday's value gets from the OPS category.

I agree, but I always lean towards the hitter if it's close.

I agree with this 5. I wouldn't drop Holliday for Webb.

arod
reyes
lincecum
holliday
kinsler

kinsler and webb are a close number 5 keeper to me but i gave kinsler the shot because i always prefer keeping a good hitter over a good pitcher. i am stearing clear of holliday this season by all costs. he is moving from the biggest hitters park in the majors to one of the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball. his numbers WILL decrease at home as a result of this move however he should fair decent on the road as long as he doesn't get into a slump as a result of poor results at home. remember, only 2 years ago holliday wasn't the hitter he is now and was only a top 10-15 OF not considered the best OF available. if you can make trades before the draft i would see if you can move him to A's fan or an owner who is not scared of the offseason relocation. if not, try after the draft but don't sell him too cheap he still has good value.
