What makes a performance "out of the blue"? Just curious.

Quentin, Pedroia, and Volquez were very, very solid prospects coming up through the minors. Cliff Lee had a good season before a very bad season before the breakout season. I agree that nobody saw Ludwick's season coming.

But if we're talking about a season beyond reasonable expectation, why not include Josh Hamilton on that list?

I'm not saying that Hamilton is an 09 bust...just wondering why Quentin is viewed skeptically whereas the best debate conjured over Hamilton is whether he's best picked in the 1st round or the 2nd round.

You can add Hamilton if you want, didn't include him on my list because he was a 1st overall draft pick so he's not so obvious.

I'm not targeting any of these guys but I usually seem to gravitate towards players who did well for me the past year. If that trend continues I could end up getting burnt by Cliff Lee this year. :-/

Anyone who takes Hamilton in the first round is making a gross blunder. 3rd round at best.

Quentin is going to have to make it to the 30's for me to get him, he's the only 1 from that group that I'd have any shot at getting where I'd be comfortable taking them.I don't figure he's going to last that long, just like the rest on this list. On draft day guys are going to have last years stats in front of them & someone will draft them early. Quentin is the only 1 I believe will have a decent chance to earn that lofty draft position, I don't imagine it will be for me tho.

With all of these guys being taken so high already, I do not see myself owning them as well. This could be the season to draft yourself a monster year with perrenials falling into your lap.

Ludwick's LD% was one of the best in the league. Gotta love that. Him, either and Votto are a few guys I will be looking hard at.

Out of the list, I feel very strongly on two of them. I think Quentin is the real deal, and Lee is a disaster waiting to happen. The others I'm all "eh" on the subject.
