Matt LaPorta vs. Dexter Fowler

Laporta for me, but only because I'm a sucker for power hitters. Fowler is pretty equal and could be a Crawford type of player if he steals more bases (he has the speed).

I thought I had read Fowler had 30/30 potential and LaPorta projected to be more of a Burrell. Anyone can be a power hitter at Coors.

I have read the same comparisons, which is why I ask the question... I don't see the power from Fowler yet, but he's only 23....

The power for LaPorta is really undeniable, however, Fowler is not getting the respect he deserves. His ceiling is as a Grady Sizemore-type, and even though he plays in a rather neutral park for hitters since the humidor, his speed is why I would go with him. His ability to steal 25+ bags while posting 14-18 HR out of the chute makes him more valuable than LaPorta.

kind of how I was viewing it. LaPorta is rather one dimensional. Maybe I should have mentioned this is for an APBA sim league, so D counts as well. I am thinking Fowler. I have the 6thpick this spring, and I am usually more on top of this stuff than other owners....

If Defense counts then that greatly improves Fowler's draftability. Pure offensive fantasy upside LaPorta is the guy I'd take every time. Fowler may go 12 HR 25 SB's fairly soon, I don't think that is a phenominal stat line. Pure upside has to be LaPorta. However Fowler is a very good defensive player so if that is taken into account and you need help sooner then he's your guy.

I'd take Fowler greatly when defense is involved, easily. Though I'm not a big LaPorta guy and I think Fowler gets overlooked especially at Coors.
