I am in a keeper league.
I would trade Brandon Phillips and KRod and get Verlander and Justin Upton.
What do you think?
I have Pedroia at second and Nathan as a closer.

I disagree. Saves won't be hard to find. Verlander should bounce back nicely in '09. The only difference between 07 and 08 was he double his amount of walks. He is can regain the control he should for two straight years prior he will be far more valuable than Brandon Phillips who would be riding my bench. As for Justin Upton, he should be a super star within a couple years.

I usually never keep closers but K-Rod would be the only exception to that rule this season for me. Phillips has great talent at a very thin position. I wouldnt make that trade.

I wouldn't do that trade. I don't trust Verlander. Having Nathan and K-Rod gives you a great 1-2 punch at closer. If he really needs a 2nd baseman , see if you can swap Phillips for Upton straight up.
Since you would have Phillips on your bench, you could afford the short term loss in value in getting Upton for him. Since Phillips is worth more now , he may do the deal.

I think Phillips and KRod for Verland and Upton is too much to give up. Upton's value even though he's suppose to be a superstar in a few years isn't that high right now. You should be able to get him for much less. I'd consider the Phillips for Upton deal but I still think that's too much. I had J Upton last year and there weren't many takers at all. Keep what you have unless you can get Upton for a lot less. It still could be 2 or 3 years before he's really worth his money.
