Gordon Trade

Postby monty797 » Fri Dec 19, 2008 4:10 pm

I'm in a 24 team dynasty looking to upgrade my 3B position. I have a pretty strong team considering the depth of the league and looking to make a move or two to push me to a title contention.

At 3B I have Alex Gordon who I love potential wise, yet he's not really produced.

I have also have pretty good OF depth with Matt Kemp, Vlad Guerrero, Nate McLouth, Pat Burrell and Michael Bourn.

I was offered Aramis Ramirez for McLouth and Gordon.

I'm tempted to do this deal. While supremely talented Gordon has yet to really "break out" and McLouth did have an awesome year but I feel that is his ceiling and he'd be lucky to hit it again.

Would you take this trade?

how many OF do you start? Assuming you start 3, I'd make the deal to try to win it all this year. If you start 5, it's close but that makes OF extremely shallow in this league, and I'd probably hold on to what you have.

We start 3 OF so I wouldn't be losing a whole ton there.

My starting lineup is

C- Mauer
1B - Morneau
2B - Mark Ellis (Not a huge fan)
3B - Alex Gordon
SS - Jason Bartlett
OF - Kemp
OF - Burrell
OF - Vlad
DH - Thome / McLouth

SP - Webb
SP - Shields
SP - Nolasco
SP - John Lannan
SP- Clayton Richard / Jason Marquis / Jarrod Washburn / Mark Prior (hah if he's every healthy)/ Garrett Mock (if he ends up starting)
RP - Joey Devine
RP - Houston Street / Manny Corpas

I'm not real happy with 2b/ss but there is not a ton available in trade at these two positions. The rest of my lineup for 24 teams I feel is darn solid.

if there aren't any 2B/SS available in trades, i think i'd pull the trigger on this one. based on your team it looks like you have a good shot at winning it, so i'd just go for it.

There is not much available at all in 2b/ss. I'll probably go ahead with this though, I think the upgrade in production is too useful and really cements another uncertain aspect of my roster. I think I have enough depth to make a run at the title, with such a deep league, who knew that Jason Marquis would have value heh.

You held onto Gordon through his crappy years and now you want to give up? I think you'll end up kicking yourself if Gordon figures it out.

I like the trade for you. However, I agree with the above that I'd rather use your chips to get an upgrade at 2B or SS....especially 2B for you. I'm not sure how healthy Ellis will be this year (although Oakland seems to have confidence in him).

It's a good trade value-wise, but I'd rather aim for upgrades at 2B/SS with your OF depth instead if you haven't already and take my chances on Gordon.
