Keepers - Quantity or Quality??

Postby NCAARules » Thu Dec 18, 2008 11:13 pm

Hello All…

I’m new to the forums, but have frequented the café for baseball insight since about this time last year.

My league is an auction based ($260) 12-team, NL-only 4x4, with the following categories: HR, RBI, OBP and Net Steals … and K-BB, ERA, W+QS and Net Saves. Each team will leave the auction with 30 players – 23 active (14/9) and seven minor leaguers (can be an undrafted major leaguer). No reserves.

Trying to get the right mindset for this year – can keep unlimited players for a $5 bump (or smaller bumps for 08 minor leaguers).
I’ve listed my ENTIRE roster at the end of the season. * indicates my presumptive keepers. Curious for your input on everyone, but especially those preceded with the ?.

Trying to fight my own "finders' keepers" bias, and concerned that keeping too many will close doors at auction.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

i'm not really familiar with auction prices in NL-only leagues, so take this with a grain of salt as i'm just going by feel.

i suck and misread the OP, i think the keepers you chose are fine, and i'd add ethier. i think wainwright and hanrahan are close, i would think you could get them back for less in the draft, but i'm not sure of the NL-only effect.

I never wanted quantity in an auction, just give me the guys that I'm pretty sure would go for more if I threw them back in. Personally I like Wainwright & would keep him @ $18, Sandoval too.Spil looks to get more PT in Colorado, he's borderline but I could see holding him. Ethier I'd wrestle with, the rest no.
