I'd say Zimmerman is the "safer" pick. I would think that the torn labrum should be repaired, which means that Zim's power should return and he was even quite good down the stretch despite the labrum tear. I can see Davis having the higher power reward and should have a 30 HR year, but the big thing is where he'll hit in the Texas lineup as well as if he can maintain a .270-280 type of average given that his K rate started to dive to normal as '08 dragged along.
As to where he should be taken, I haven't read into too many mocks, but Davis should be at least a mid-draft selection. He might be reached a round or two in a 16-teamer, I'd say.
Davis should go a couple rounds after Zimmerman. I haven't finished my rankings yet, but I have Zimmerman at about the 8th ranked 3B. Davis around 12th. The thing is, in a deep league there's many picks before your turn comes again. So if you wait for Davis and someone beats you to him , then your getting to guys like Glaus, Kousmanoff, Gordon,Encarnacion, and maybe Cantu. With the hype Davis is getting , I would think that if you want him you'll have to reach a little.

Yes, which is why you're probably better of aiming for Encanacion or Cantu. If davis is still around where you want him then the choice seems obvious.
He once hit a ball between my legs so hard that my center-fielder caught it on the fly backing up against the wall.
If Satch (Paige) and I were pitching on the same team, we would clinch the pennant by July fourth and go fishing until World Series time.
FYI - Chris Davis's early MDP is 107.25 while Zim's is 111.63. It will be interesting to see if this pattern continues as the draft season progresses and other ADP's are added.
