Andrew Miller - FLA P

Postby uk_bosox » Sat Dec 13, 2008 2:02 pm

Hi

I've have Miller in a deep 24 team mixed league. What are your thoughts on him next season..I have an offer on the table for Miller which I would get Greg Smith (P) and a #14 draft for minor league/international additions. Smith is not a bad pitcher but my fear is Coors could kill him!

Yeah...Smith is a flyball pitcher and Coors could hurt him. At least you know he's starting and his 2008 stats were solid. I love Miller's talent, but he hurts more than anything right now. I'd probably do the trade if I could get someone decent with your #14 minors-type pick.

It depends on who you can get with the minor league pick. I want to part of Greg Smith next season, but if you can get a decent prospect in return, it might be worth it.

Andrew Miller has the stuff to be a good Major League pitcher, but he hasn't got it together yet. Right now, he's not a good fantasy option, but the potential is still there.

I wouldn't do that trade. Miller is a real good prospect. I read an article about him today. It said he was one of the unluckiest pitchers in baseball in 2008. They were calling him a sleeper.
I don't know how to give you a link , so I'll tell you where I saw it. It was at the Fan Graphs site. When you get there , hit the sleepers link on the right side of page. Then scroll down to Nov. 14 article called Miller Time in Florida or something like that. I don't like Smith at Coors.

Greg Smith has basically no value at this point, so unless you can get a prospect better than Miller with the pick you'd get, I'd hold pat. Here's the link Dan was talking about btw:

Miller has a lot of potential. I'd hang onto him if these are the kind of deals people are offering. Florida develops young pitching arguably better than anybody else.

Miller is the best bet here. He is still young and has a lot potential. In such a deep league Miller should have more value than that.
