11 Team 5x5 ROTO Keeper League in its 6th season. We keep 14, no salary cap. We use OBP in lieu of Runs. Our roster looks like this:

CI
MI
OF
OF
OF
OF
UT
UT

SP
SP
SP
RP
RP
P
P
P

Here are the guys I'm keeping for sure:

1. Miguel Cabrera
2. Mark Teixeira
3. Brian McCann
4. Brandon Phillips
5. Ryan Zimmerman
6. Alex Gordon
7. Nick Markakis
8. Matt Kemp
9. Ervin Santana
10. Jonathan Broxton

Here are the 6 players I'm considering for my final 4 spots:

11. Corey Hart
12. Rickie Weeks
13. Ian Stewart
14. Matt Cain
15. Max Scherzer
16. Rafael Furcal

Who would you keep?

Definitely axe Stewart. I'm b/w Weeks and Max for that last spot. I'd normally keep Weeks, but being that you really don't have any SP, I guess I'd go with Mad Max. Are you punting SP?

I dont really like Cain or Weeks, but I could see you scrapping Stewart if you want Cain.

Ian Stewart had such a great year in 08 between AAA and MLB. He was gold-money after his 2nd call up. It's hard to give up a potential .280/.370/.500+ 3B in a keeper league.....I'm not punting SP, but in an 11 team league it's pretty easy to find in the draft or even during the season. Ricky Nolasco and Ervin Santana were both FA adds in this league last season. I've learned not to spend many keeper spots on SP.

Weeks has been slow to come around, but the only real chink in his armor is his low CT%. If he can cut back on his Ks by 10% or so we would see a nice spike in his BA, OBP, power numbers, and SBs.

Problem with Stewart is that he is not guaranteed a starting spot. I doubt the Rox will use him at second much (if at all) and they already have Atkins and Helton at the corners. This puts him on the bench barring a trade or injury.

I don't let those types of things concern me. Talented players will find ABs. I was able to acquire Matt Kemp last season when he was platooning with Pierre, Ethier, and Andruw Jones for Ben Sheets. The chances of Helton's back making it through the season are slim and it's in the Rockies best interests to get Stewart's bat into the lineup, whether its by moving Atkins (a below Avg defensive 3B) to 1B, LF, or another team.

hart, cain and furcal are sure-fire keepers. i'm done giving weeks chances, and i like scherzer's upside more than stewarts.

i would keep hart and cain over broxton and alex gordon easily and then make the next two spots between your remaining guys and i would keep furcal and scherzer personally.

I like Stewart, but I hate to keep a player who may not be starting. I've been A Weeks fan in the past. He burned me last year as I had him on many teams. I wouldn't keep him. I have to admit that he'll be on my watch list.
