Boras tried to push the Yankees to 10 years, then conceded on 8 but insisted on $24 million per. They wouldn't budge from 8 and 180 and he called back 20 minutes later: http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/baseb ... kees/blog/
haha this whole situation is fairly ridiculous. I don't even care that the Yankees are spending all this money, I just think it's ridiculous, especially in light of the economic situation and their new, tax-payer funded stadium.
Check out my views on the situation at: http://thereplacement09.blogspot.com/. It's my new blog that will hopefully have some insightful things on the world of sports, among other things.

Nah that would only cover the contracts of Tex and ARod
You could have had them both if you would have ponied up just a little more dough.
Thats ok those two havent helped to win a World Series yet so its ok.
I'd be shocked if they didn't make the playoffs. Winning the whole thing is another matter but a lot of people last year going into the season thought the Tigers looked like the best team on paper and how did that turn out?
Let's let things play out on the field then we'll see what's what.

Not trading for or signing A-Rod hasn't worked out too poorly for Boston. Can't argue with two championships since that time. Would they have won them with A-Rod? We'll never know, just the same as time will tell with Teix.

Not really, at least in the case of Teix. All I've heard indicates the NTC, not the money, was the dealbreaker re: BOS. Plus, there's two huge assumptions:
1) The Yankees don't go even higher 2) In case of a tie, he chooses Boston.
The Sox pretty much have never, and will never, win a direct auction with NYY for a player both really want. No-one named Steinbrenner would let it happen.

LOL
Happy Holidays to all!!!!
I think the NTC was the deal breaker for the Sox. If the money difference was Sabathia like then one can argue it was money but here the money difference seemed minimal-$10-$12M.
Excited about what's going on(especially Teixiera which was unexpected) but at the end of the day it's about what happens on the field.
