Overpaid (he is not the second best hitter in baseball) but the Yankees can afford to pay him too much and players are worth more to the yankees than other teams, so it is a good move for them.

I think that might be a reason the Yankees buy these guys no? That's why the angel's passed also. They are the favorites in the west even without teix. If you want to make it out of the East you better be stacked.
I personally worry a lot more about the rays than the sox. That many young studs with great defense and solid pitching? So many of their core players should only be better in 2009. Yanks had to improve significantly to match up.
