Which OF'er to take..Young or Milledge?

Postby Whalewang » Tue Dec 09, 2008 3:24 pm

I need to pick one outfielder for the last spot on my keeper list. I have it narrowed down to Chris Young or Milledge. I can have either for three years. I'm leaning toward Chris Young. Is there any reason to take Milledge instead?

edit: added Chris (Young).

Chris or Delmon Young?

I'd probably take both of those over Milledge. Delmon only by a hair though.
He once hit a ball between my legs so hard that my center-fielder caught it on the fly backing up against the wall.

If Satch (Paige) and I were pitching on the same team, we would clinch the pennant by July fourth and go fishing until World Series time.

I am going Milledge before either one this season. He's on the brink of a breakout season, and I don't see Chris Young repeating his 2007 campaign. Delmon should be knocked down a few pegs based on last season's performance combined with his poor attitude. He's not even guaranteed a starting job in Minnesota, so if they don't trade him he shouldn't even be considered.

I'd keep Young. I personally believe Milledge is over-rated.

My gut instinct is to say Milledge.

I think you're going to end up with better counting stats and more power from Young, but definitely more speed from Milledge. I think both guys are likely to show some improvement over last year's stats, but don't forget that Milledge was a touted prospect too.

I would look at the rest of your keeper roster and determine where you're lacking more...power or speed...and make the decision that way.

It's a toss up right now but Delmon's playing time could be in jeopardy if Gomez, Span, Cuddyer and Kubel are all healthy. This makes me think Milledge right now for 09.
