I have first pick in a new salaried keeper league ($125M cap) where we take on real-life contracts with about $35M to spend. It's 6x6 roto scoring (holds + ops). These are the best options as I see 'em:
Vlad for one year @ $15M Ervin Santana for 3 years @ $0.5M ARam for 4 years @ $15.5M Mariano Rivera for 2 years @ $15M Carlos Lee for 4 years @ $18.5M
I really should pick up Rivera since I have no one for saves, but I can't help passing on Santana when he's so cheap. Plus, if he doesn't regress, I should only have all the non-reliever categories locked up. It should be noted that other closer options exist (Qualls, BJ Ryan who is cheaper @ $10M, Arredondo, Hoffman) but I doubt any will be left by the time my 2nd pick rolls around (15 teams, snake draft). I'm pretty happy with my offense and would rather not spend anymore on big names like ARam or Vlad. So, I guess I'm asking:
True Ervin Santana is a bargain at that price, but he has only had the "ONE" great year, sure it took him sometime to reach those goals. But Pitchers are so funny, and can easily regress......I always like spending my money on BATS. And with M-CAB losing 3B eligiblity soon, A-RAM would be a fine replacement for the next 3 excuse me, 4 years. SOLD!!!! another guy I like is MR. CONSISTENCY Carlos Lee. As for Rivera, closers are a dime a dozen, and he is defidently on his last legs.
