14 team deep roster Mixed Keeper League. (Auction Style) We keep 12 players plus 1 minor league slot. Players have 3 year contracts then they become free agents, or toppers. I can keep a "topper" but he enters the auction, and I have the right to "top" him or let him walk after the bidding stops on the mentioned player.
MY OFFSEASON ROSTER: (we draft the following 2-C, 2-1B, 2-2B, 2-3B, 2-SS, 6-OF, 6-SP, 2-RP 6-Man Bench, 3max minor league roster) (I can only keep 1 minor leaguer, I have some options, assuming that is where they begin the season, Teagarden/Gamel/Fowler)
PLAYER - SALARY - CONTRACT YEAR C - C.Iannetta $1 (2) C - R.Martin $topper$ C - J.Posada $26 (2) C - G.Laird $1 (2) C - T.Teagarden $3 (2) 1B - A.Pujols $44 (2) 1B - C.Kotchman $1 (3) 1B - J.Giambi $12 (2) 2B - K.Johnson $1 (3) 2B - F.Sanchez $topper$ 3B - A.Ramirez $33 (3) 3B - C.Davis $5 (2) 3B - M.Gamel $3 (2) SS - J.Reyes $topper$ SS - T.Tulowitzki $topper$ OF - J.Bay $15 (2) OF - C.Hart $5 (3) OF - C.Lee $topper$ OF - C.Granderson $topper$ OF - B.Hawpe $topper$ OF - N.Markakis $topper$ OF - A.Rios $topper$ OF - G.Anderson $5 (2) OF - D.Fowler $3 (2) SP - C.Lee $3 (2) SP - T.Lincecum $2 (3) SP - B.Webb $38 (2) SP - A.J.Burnett $2 (3) SP - C.Billingsley $3 (3) SP - J.Johnson $1 (2) RP - M.Rivera $36 (2) RP - M.Capps $1 (2)
Thanks again, please leave a link will help you out in return.
The only thing I would probably do is take Webb over Ianneta or K. Johnson. I know that $38 is a lot to spend but I don't know of a SP that is much better than Webb. Going into the season with possibly the best Hitter and Pitcher would be nice. I also don't know if you could get him back for less. So if you think you could get him back at cheaper than let him walk but if not then I think he would be better than anything Ianneta can do for you.

Another vote for Webb over Iannetta. Your pitching is all set for the next 3 years (Lincecum, Bills, and Burnett are a nice trio to have come 2011, especially since Billingsley should be a top-10 pitcher with Lincecum by then). What's the cap? $200M? I would stay away from toppers as people never exercise fiscal responsibility.
Damn, you guys never sleep here, love the baseball offseason!!! Thanks for all the feedback guys,
But just to clarify something, Players have 3 year contracts, in my league, FOR EXAMPLE, Lincecum is entering his final year, (3) see above. So I don't have him for 3 more years, its reversed. I have him for this year only. etc....same with Burnett & Billingsley. Still they are obvious keepers. $11 for my staff, pretty solid, and I always go by the theory of spending top dollar on BATS, (safer bet) and as little amount on Pitching. On the flip side, I have Pujols (2) and Davis (2) for 2 more years @ that price.
We begin the draft with $260 (minus my keepers) and we are given a $80FAAB for the season after the draft. Active Roster Salary Cap during the season is at $305.
I think you have to choose between J.Johnson $1 and Webb $38, on talent alone it's a no brainer, but when you look at the salaries Johnson may be a better keeper.
I think Iannetta should be kept, remember how expensive catchers went last year...
I'm with ya on this one SanD Great staff for $11 and a $1 closer, and a bunch of cash left over.
If you're going to have a bunch of cash left over, why not put it to good use and keep Webb? You know what you're going to get out of him. I'm not sure what your cap is, but personally, I like to tie up a good chunk of my money into my players that will be playing for me every day. I just don't like having excess money to spend on players that will sit on my bench.
