Only for smart people. Deep Keeper League.

Postby isitbean » Sat Dec 06, 2008 9:51 pm

I am in a 6 X 6 rotisserie league that has 12 teams in it.

The catigories for batters are: Runs, RBI's, HR's, SB's, AVG, and OPS

The catigories for pitchers are: Wins, K's, Saves, Holds, ERA, and Whip

The conditions of last seasons draft were that you can only keep players drafted in round 15 or later.

You must keep 6 players.
Every season an additional player must be kept. (6 keepers in 2009, 7 keepers in 2010, 8 keepers in 2011)

I am able to keep players for the next 3 seasons (redraft after the 2011 season) . Which 6 players should I choose.

1. David Price (SP- TB)

2. Clayton Kershaw (SP- LAD)

3. Travis Snider (OF- TOR)

4. Pablo Sandoval (C, 1B, 3B- SF)

5. Alcides Escobar (SS- MIL)

6. Chris Davis (1B- TEX)

7. Joey Devine (RP- OAK)

8. Carlos Marmol (RP- CUBS)

9. Shin-Soo-Choo (OF- CLE)

Which players will give me the most value and upside over the next 3 seasons?

There are players with greater upside that will get called up within the next couple of seasons so I feel like I need players with the greatest upside even if it might be more short term. I am 97% sure I am going to keep Price, Kershaw, Davis, Snider, Sadoval. The question mark is whether I am better off with the real nice relief pitcher (for next season at least) or the long term greater upside of Escobar (should start opening day 2010).

And who is the better relief pitcher?

Joey Devine has always had the tag of a future closer and that opportunity has opened up in Oakland. I hate keeping a relief pitcher but the .59 ERA, .83 whip, and better than a K/inning makes me think he might be worth having for next season. I know he has been very injury prone but he could give me some really solid pitching stats if healthy. He has not been named closer but we all know hes gonna get the last 3 outs.

If you have ever seen Carlos Marmol then you know he has some of the nastiest stuff in all of baseball. But sometimes he misses his spots and seems to try to get by on stuff alone and not location. So far it has worked. He is not guarenteed the closer role but I cant see him not pitching the 9th in Chicago. He has thrown a lot of innings over the last few years and often has a "dead arm". But his stirkout rate and stuff in unbelievable.

THANKS FOR READING AND RESPONDING. WHICH 6 WOULD YOU KEEP? I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING YOUR INSIGHT. THIS IS NOT A QUESTION FOR FANTASY BASEBAL BEGINNERS.

Price
Kershaw
Marmol
Davis
Sandoval

I believe that Choo will serve in the military sometime during the season. Don't quote me on that, but I believe that is the word.

Agree here also. Maybe Sandoval for Devine? I just don't seem him being a huge monster.

Price
Marmol
Davis
Snider
Kershaw

In a 6X6, those of you suggesting he keep Escobar over Marmol are just plain insane.

Another vote for this one. I'm not sure if my vote counts though....what is your "smart people" criteria? :-b
