I think part of it has to do with not putting as much pressure on the kid. Last year they basically let him produce down at 8th or 9th, even though he was one of their better hitters.
Im more surprised that he included Murphy over Byrd, I guess it will be a straight up platoon.
Salty doesn't make much sense 6th though, hes a switch hitter but he has consistently been worse from the right side. .444 ops as a righty, .877 as a lefty lat year though obviously in limited ABs. If the other manager is smart that will only encourage bringing in a lefty. Id rather hide him 8th until he gets it going. Id have put the byrd/murph platoon 6th. Davis at 7th is alright for now, Im sure if mashes like we expect and hits lefties like he has in the past he will move up in fairly short order.

When I first saw this I thought you meant Zach Duke, and I couldn't believe he was being drafted at all...
Dukes is great as a late round flier (MDP 250), which is around Jeff Francouer territory. I'm not sure I'd want to rely on him as my 3rd OFer, as I'm concerned with playing time.
According to rookies MDP, Jurrjens is going right next to Slowley and Baker, who I would much rather have. I'm not seeing Parra being in the top 275, so I'd rather go with him as well.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike
I'm not that big of a fan of Jurrjens....I think he comes back to earth as nothing more than fa material/spot starter type. I do like what Dukes has the potential for but if I had him as anything other than a 4th-5th OFer I'd be worried.
