What's your favourite draft position?

Postby Subversive » Sat Mar 06, 2004 2:32 pm

I just drew 9th for my 18 team mixed league. Obviously I'm not going to get A-rod/Pujols and the like, but then again, I don't have to wait 36 between my 1st and my 2nd player.

Any of you have a favourite spot to draft from?
Bah, humbug.

actually the more I draft, the less I really care

I think I can take any spot and draft well enough to have a competitive team, different spots just end you up with different kinds of teams

I like being in the middle. I usually play in 16-team leagues, and it's really hard to predict if some guy is going to come back to you if you have to wait 30 picks.

Don't have one. There are pros and cons to having bookend picks vs middle of the pack. I think its more how you deal with your position in the draft that's the key.

I drew #2 in a current 12 team snake draft and once I make my #2 pick I try and wait for the next round to start to see who may be waiting for me at #11. Before I pull the trigger at #2, I try to guage my current weakness and if there are guys to help me there that likely won't make it back in the next round at #11. Once my #11 pick gets close, I try to zone in on what I need and get a few names together of guys that will likely be there or are guaranteed to be there. Its worked pretty well so far.

I'd take either end this year. Picking 1 or 2 gives me A-Rod or Pujols who I would love to build a team around. If I miss out on those two, I'm willing to risk waiting until later to get 2 studs.

Picking 10th of 12 this year I grabbed Prior and Pedro, giving me a huge K, ERA, and WHIP advantage right off the bat.

I think there are 2 top players, so ideally I'd pick 1 or 2 (A-Hole or Pujols). I think there is another 2 after them (Soriano, Helton). After they are gone, I'd prefer to pick later and hope for Prior.

I don't really want to draft Beltran, Vlad, Bonds, Manny, Maggs, Sheff, Nomar at pick 5-10. You can't pass them up, but I'd prefer getting Prior (or I'd settle for Pedro) before any of them. Beltran would be the only guy I'd really want in first round out of that group, and that would be option #7 for me. OF is too deep, and I don't want to draft a SS not named A-Rod in the first round.

This is all pre-Prior and the recurring achilles pain. Right now, I wouldn't want to draft until I find out more.

This is pretty much my mind set as well. If I had to choose I would want to get Pick #1-#3 and get A-Rod, Pujols and If I am #3 grab Soriano, but It really doesn't matter.

My favorite postion is on the back row, preferably on the end where I can watch all the other bidders and have plenty of room for my cooler....and also a free path to the restroom!

I got Beltran #9. I was surprised he made it that far.
