Minor League Draft

Postby nikkisixx21 » Thu Dec 04, 2008 1:26 pm

I am in a 18 team Dynasty League. H2H 5x5

I have 6th overall pick and 15th pick in the first round. I am a little weak at OF/C. What are some good options at those picks. I am assuming Price/Wieters/McCuchen/Maybin/Laporta are most likely the top 5.

For OF, there's always Fowler (Col), Heyward (Atl), and Snider (Tor).
At C, it's a little less deep and I do not expect any of the listed names to make much of an impact if any at all in 2009. Teagarden (Tex), Posey (SF), Montero (NYY), and Marson (Phi)

I'd probably look at Fowler or Snider. Both of whom could have a roster spot for themselves in 2009. Probably Snider more so then Fowler.

Just to list pitchers because everybody always as their eye on them. Bumgarner (SF), Porcello (Det), Parker (Ari), Cahill (Oak), B.Anderson (Oak), M.Bowden (Bos), Carrasco (Phi), Hanson (Atl), and McDonald (LAD) come to mind.
Good luck, feel free to PM me

Heyward is still a few years away from making an impact, but I would look to grab him with the 1st pick.

For catcher, Jesus Montero and Buster Posey come to mind. I am unsure, but I think Jesus may be moved to 1B eventually.

If you can land Heyward first and then maybe Madison, Cahil or Hanson next couple of rounds I'll be liking your draft.

Maybe punt pitching and take both Snider AND Heyward....so many solid pitching prospects drop.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

I have 2 picks in each in the first 6 rounds. I have pretty good starting pitching Peavy,Cain,Scherzer,Galaragga,Maholm,Buehrle. Would 2nd round be too high for Posey or Bumgarner? I can reach on a few players since I have alot of picks early and I have all my other picks as well. Mostly moved down in the Major Draft to get the extra Minor picks.

No, if either Posey or Bumgarner slip to the 2nd, you definitely need to grab him. With your C need, I would grab Posey in the 1st. He did well in Hawaiian Baseball this offseason (similar path that Wieters did). Also, there had been speculation of making him the #1 overall pick in the 2008 draft so he's a special talent also.

Jason Heyward would probably be my pick at #3 if Price and Wieters are gone, so if he is there at #6, I would definitely take him.
