Which Player for Loney?

Postby BeSquare » Tue Dec 02, 2008 1:34 am

20 team, 5X5 Ultra keeper league. Have James Loney on the trading block as I'm trying to upgrade my OF position, and have received two offers: Maggs Ordonez for JL or Corey Hart for JL. Which deal, if any, would you take?? :-?

Hart - Has the clear advantage in SB's, youth and upside

Ordonez - has the clear advantage in Avg.

other than SB and Avg. their numbers are were fairly similar last season. I give Hart the advantage because he has the upside. ;-D

Not to complicate my original inquiry, but was just offered Bradley, Pierre, & Angel Villalona for Loney so I'll throw that in the mix as well . . .

I think I'd take the Corey Hart deal. Magglio should have better numbers than Hart in 09, but he is also 8 years older. Magglio won't be an elite OF for many more years. Hart will have lower AVG, but will steal more. The HR numbers should be similar. I'd take Hart for the age.

btw, what's an Ultra Keeper League? Is it like a Dynasty League?

Interesting offer, but I think I'd still take the Hart deal over this one. Bradley can hit when he's playing, but even last year he barely got over 400 ABs. Pierre will get his SB even with limited playing time, but you can't really count on him for anything else. I like Villalona, but the Ks are a little worrisome and he's still very young, meaning that he's far away from the Majors, not to mention that many things can still go wring with him. High ceiling though.
