After a couple of years of rebuilding I have a good set of keepers and a decent shot at our 12 team 5x5 Roto title in 2009. Top keepers in our league are extremely tough to get and teams will pay very high prices to obtain one. I am thinking of Moving David Wright to load up for a run.
Here are my Keepers: Wright Reyes Feilder Pedroia Lackey Felix Soria Verlander or Garza Rookies - Alex Gordon and Chris Young (last year of a 3 year contract)
Here are a few of the potential offers I can consider for Wright:
Beltran Ortiz Ellsbury (2 more years on a rookie contract)
or
Beltran Ortiz Dunn
or
Beltran Ortiz Hunter or Dempster 3rd round draft pick #10 pick in this years Rookie Draft
Considering my keepers - which of these deals would make the most sense?
I think you should wait. You have a very nice set of keepers and you should go into next season and see where you are at then. None of the deals were that great and come with some questions marks. Wright is a stud and very few can match his numbers.

Tough. I'm really liking the deal I just quoted. Beltran's a 2nd or 3rd rounder, and I love Ellsbury's speed for the next bunch of years. I would wait though and see what shakes up in Boston (could a Teixeira signing rotate everyone around and hurt Ellsbury's PT?) and possibly revisit this in the spring. It should give you a better idea of Papi's wrist also.
Is this before the keeper deadline? If so what players are you cutting?
I would absolutely have to be blown away to deal Wright in a keeper that didn't limit how long I could keep him. Beltran is not the player I would want as the centerpiece considering long-term keeper value.
I'd keep wright also. You have to concider what 3B's are out there for you to draft. You'll have an easier time picking up OF's that a 3B to replace Wright.
Wright is perhaps the most valuable player in a keeper setting, although his steals will probably start to decline within the next few years. That Beltran, Ortiz and Dunn deal has an eye popping amount of power and IMO is the best of the three, especially given you have Reyes/Pedroia that can supply a solid amount of steals. I'd almost be inclined to take it if I knew Ortiz would come back to have a monster season, because if he did I'd say you would win this deal, especially if you believe you can win the title this season.
That being said, I'd probably end up keeping Wright in the end. He's just too valuable as a keeper. How many seasons can you keep him for?
so if I'm seeing this right, if you add 3 players you lose Soria too. I don't like this at all. Can you keep guys forever? There is no question you want Wrights 2010 & 2011 instead of Beltran & Ortiz's, if you don't win this year its a bum deal. I want guys on the way up if I'm moving Wright, I just don't trust their futures like a couple years ago.You said guys really pay high prices, this is about an even deal that I don't even want if its my keeper team. I could see a 2-1 bumping your final keeper & adding a minor leaguer, but thats not near enough for a top 5 keeper;who should stay there in the coming years as well.
Thanks for the great feedback guys. Since we have already named our keepers heading into 2009 I would not be "bumping" any of them out, just adding the extra players and losing my last couple of late round draft picks.
