Dynasty Trade offered - need some feedback.

Postby monty797 » Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:50 pm

So I've been offered a trade by an owner who is really trying to get Pablo Sandoval. This is a 24 team dynasty league with a $300 salary. Salaries in this particular trade don't really matter as I have a ton of cap room as does the other owner. In this league pitching is impossible to come by with 24 teams and needing to field 5 starters and 2 RP's. This is also a points league.

I think I may give a bit too much value in this but not real sure.

I am giving

Ichiro
Milton Bradley
Pablo Sandoval (this is the guy that hurts)
Chris Withrow

I get

Vlad
Steve Pearce (maybe a nice sleeper)
Ian Kennedy (could get a look out of ST?)
Radhamas Liz (I love his arm if he gets his control)

Now I think I'm probably giving up a bit too much here as Sandoval looks to be a good young player, but being young you have no real idea which Pablo you are going to get.

I like getting Vlad alot in this deal especially for Ichiro as I can use some more power, getting two young starters as well is extremely valuable.

What do you all think?

You are giving up too much. Ichiro is nearly as valuable as Vlad, and Bradley and Sandoval have upside and you know they will start. Pearce, Kennedy, and Liz all have their issues and it is not a given that any of them will start.

If you want a pitcher, make him put a decent no.3 in the deal instead of Kennedy.

I agree. One thing I didnt mention is that Bradley is on my bench, he is in no way expected to give me many meaningful innings unless an injury happens.

My OF consists of McLouth, Kemp, Ichiro (who'd be replaced with Vlad).

Kennedy and Liz can sit on the bench the entire year, I have no real need for them either in this year. This would strictly be a building trade for me for the future, not at all a this year type trade. Now if one of them breaks out that is perfectly fine.

My starting position lineup

C- Kelly Shoppach
1B - Mike Jacobs
2B- Kelly Johnson
3B - Alex Gordon
SS - Jason Bartlett
OF = Kemp
OF - McLouth
OF - Ichiro
DH - Thome

My SP's are

Webb
Kazmir
Nolasco
James Shields
John Lannan

I also have sitting on my bench for SP's
Marquis
Odalis Perez
Jorge Campillo
Mark Prior

You need more in that deal. You're giving up 2 quality players in addition to Sandoval.

If he really wants Pablo, tell him to really make an offer

I agree with the last post. And if you are building for the future, make sure the top player you get has better knees than an aging Vladdy, even though I love the guy!

You need to get some better players. Pretty much every player you are getting is some sort of sleeper besides Vlad. And Vlad is not the player to build a team around. I like Pearce and Kennedy but I just think you need to get a couple of sure things along with some untapped talent in your trade. Usually when I get to this point in a trade I start cutting the big names out. Look at doing Bradley and Sandoval for Pearce, Kennedy and Liz.

I still think Vlad has it, but I would want more then just Vlad in this deal.

I have been kinda on and off talking with the owner.

The proposed deal as it sits right now is

Vlad
Adam Laroche
Steve Pearce
Rad Liz

for

Ichiro
Bradley
Sandoval
Chris Withrow.

Looks a bit better. Thoughts?
