Keep 5 +1

11 Team Keeper, Roto, 6x6 (QS, OPS)

Keep 5 + 1 free agent/late draft pick (in bold)

Here is my roster at the end of the season:

C Chris Iannetta (Col - C)
1B Joey Votto (Cin - 1B,OF)
2B B.J. Upton (TB - 2B,OF)
3B Ryan Zimmerman (Was - 3B)
SS Hanley Ramírez (Fla - SS)
OF Nate McLouth (Pit - OF)
OF Justin Upton (Ari - OF)
OF Josh Hamilton (Tex - OF)
Util Prince Fielder (Mil - 1B)
Util Vladimir Guerrero (LAA - OF)
SP Jake Peavy (SD - SP)
SP James Shields (TB - SP)
RP Kerry Wood (ChC - RP)
RP Chris Pérez (StL - RP)
P CC Sabathia (Mil - SP)
P Tim Lincecum (SF - SP)
P Kevin Gregg (ChC - RP)

BN Corey Hart (Mil - OF)
BN Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B)
BN Carlos Quentin (CWS - OF)
BN Mike González (Atl - RP)
BN Francisco Liriano (Min - SP)
BN Matt Cain (SF - SP)

Which set of 5 +1 would you keep? I'll probably end up keeping Quentin as my +1 but I hate to throw back Justin Upton. I'll probably have to overpay to have him rostered next year if I decide to let him back in the player pool. Hanley is my only absolute lock keeper along with Lincecum and Hamilton. If I had to decide today I'd probably go with in order:

Hanley
Hamilton
Lincecum
Peavy
BJ Upton
+Quentin

I really don't want to throw back Fielder, Vlad, CC, and Justin Upton. Should I consider keeping all 3 pitchers? I don't really think there is anyway I would do that but I'm open to hearing some opinions. Thoughts?

I would keep Fielder over Peavy or BJ Upton, especially in an OPS league. I like the rest.

Switch the Uptons. Justin will surpass BJ in a couple years and BJ's lost his 2B eligibility for '09. So:

Hanley
Hamilton
Lincecum
Peavy
Justin Upton
+Quentin

Sounds perfect.

First and foremost would be to look at the trade market, especially with the guys you have available as "+1" type keepers. Offer one plus another keeper worthy player for an upgraded keeper. Aim for the best of the best, Pujols/Wright types. It would be ashame to let all those guys back into the draft.

wow, looks like a competitive league! :-S

regardless of the 5 you settle on, you're going to have a ridiculous amount of leftovers who are top 50 worthy.........i would base my keeps on what other people want in trades - you got so many options you can let them pick who they want and work out a fair deal...........there must be some serious dreck in the league given how stacked your roster is, so go to work and move some talent

Not that hard to imagine if you enter the year having a solid set of keepers and then have a sweet draft. Last season I kept BJ Upton, Hart, Hanley, Fielder, Peavy and Vlad. I drafted CC in the first round after keepers, then Hamilton and Lincecum. I also snagged Upton and McLouth later in the draft.

Same as above, but I'd swap BJ Upton for Quentin and try to grab Quentin and or Upton in the draft... If Peavy ends up with the Cubbies, I might put him in the last slot or maybe deal him and Quentin (or Upton?) for a no brainer MIF keeper like Rollins.
