A Wal-Mart worker died after being trampled when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island store Friday morning, police and witnesses said.
The 34-year-old worker, employed as an overnight stock clerk, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.
Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.
"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too...I literally had to fight people off my back."
This is incomprehensible.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

wow...that's terrible. In reality these people should be charged with murder. But since it may be impossible to find everyone who was responsible, nothing will happen.

Wal-mart will get sued but not charged. They could probably use store surveillance to find some of those responsible.
Unbelievable. I'm wondering if the person that knocked him over first and then walked on top him even noticed. I suppose nothing matters as long as you get your hands on that hot Christmas item.

as horrible as this is, i kinda doubt the person in the front had any control over what they were doing. when you have 200 people behind you pushing there's not much you can do but try to stay on your feet and not get trampled yourself.
