It is very hard to make a weak keeper team competitive, you've got 2 guys in Mags & Youk who are late 3rd/early 4th round kinda guys & likely are as high as they ever are going to get. You've got 1 stud in Wright & it is imperative that you get as much as you can for him. You need to get 1 top 20 kinda player for him and a Justin Upton kinda prospect that won't make another managers keeper list. There should be overloaded rosters that you can find such players. Its not a bad idea to look ahead past 2009 but you have to make 1 golden deal with Wright to give yourself a better starting position. There has to be teams that have way too many good players to keep, dealing for Wright will be worth it to them, beats dropping into pool, but you must find the right deal.this isn't nearly enough yet, maybe in season is actually your best play anyway?

I was thinkink of countering. He has Jimmy Rollins. I was thinking Ramirez and Rollins. I was going to ask for one of his minor leaguers to but I don't know much about them.
Eric Hurley
Joe Koshansky
Jarrod Parker
*Brandon Jones (135 AB)
Jones will not work for me because he isn't still considered minor leaguer.

Rollins gives my top 20 guy but do any his minor leaguers have potential.

Absolutely not. If you're gonna trade Wright, you gotta get at least one superstud prospect in return. It's either the Bruce/Wieters/Price/Kershaw class, or at the very least the Cameron Maybin class, or bust. If you're this far from serious contention, then don't bother with a current top 20 player that will be on the decline by the time you're competing. Prospects, prospects, prospects. Wright is a top 3 player. Don't settle.

I think I am going to stand pat. You guys gave me alot to think about. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Although I don't think my chances of moving up are as bad as some of you say. Although that is probable because it is my team. My team fell apart on me this year but the year before I was in third. I know everyone thinks they can improve there team. I am just going to keep the four Wright, Maggs,Youkolis, and either Rivera or Chamberlain. Most likely Joba.

How many years does Rollins have left? If its 1 you don't want that either. Are you dealing with 1 manager? Have you offered Wright on the message board? It seems like these offers are all from 1 guy who wants to lowball you; really these aren't even close to what Wright should be bringing, especially in the offseason when the powerhouse teams have to drop talent back into the draft. You need to do much better than this with your 1 remaining trump card, or you'll be looking at many more seasons like the past 1. Be picky, aim high
I see you posted while I was writing, think thats a good move. If you start out the year poorly, you can always move Wright inseason.Keep 4, ace the draft, you can be competitive with a good draft.I still think most will have better starting points than you, but that can be overcome

I agree most will have better starting point then me but I will have three supplemental picks to try and catch up. I am just hoping to do better than last year. I did alright once we got in te playoff winning the first two rounds. Although it was in the consolation round. My big mistake last year was keeping to many. I kept Tori Hunter for example. he had a great 2007. Maggs disappointed a bit last year two. However I think some of that had to do with the Tigers poor play as a team.

Again thanks for all the advice. Everyone gave me things to think about.

I actually think with a max of 7 keepers a league should have decent parity yr to yr. A decent draft and you could be in the top half easy. Hang onto Wright unless someone really brings a real good offer.
