No he was on the bench during the first game. I think he had some minor injury, but as I recall nothing is serious. Off the top of my head I don't know but it was something maybe like a bruised rib or something.

actually, I took time to look it up:
Matsui, meanwhile, is close to returning from the lacerated finger he suffered on Sunday. The bandaging on his finger is much lighter than it has been all week and on Thursday he took grounders and did some work in the batting cage.

I think he meant Kazuo Matsui. I could be wrong though I guess.

I'm interested in him too. I just picked him up of the FA. Yahoo had him ranked in the 700s, so he went undrafted. The freakin' autodraft picked John Burkett for me even though he retired, so I grabbed Kaz, since I was thick with starters anyway.
