I stay pat on the Miggy trade personally. I don't think you would be getting anything back at those positions in the draft that can help you any time soon. Miggy himself is a young guy as well so you'll have him for a long time.

I tend to like the Abrue trade, he'll be productive for the next two years, I would try to package Stubbs, Parra or Hunter though. Play up the fact that Abrue is older and nearing the end of his career. I tend to like Schafer a bit though.

The challenge with Miggy is he can only play 1B or DH.
I have Howard under contract for 5 years and Ortiz for 3years.

I need to move one of these guys. Ortiz was my 1st option (DH only) but needing to sing Quintin to a long term deal that only leaves me with 2x 1 yr contracts.

I could sign Miggy long term - Quintin and Cano to 1 yr extensions and move Ortiz..

If I make the Abreu deal he has a 3 yr contract.

Move Ortiz for SP help?

We get 7 starts a week and have 3 RP spots.

If I have my choice, I move Big Papi (and it kills me to say that as I'm a die hard RS fan!). This year was a decline for him due to injury, but he's getting closer to mid 30's now, and while he's been consistant, he's a big man and generally speaking, once they start to break down it happens faster than your more athletic type of players.

Getting a good pitcher for Ortiz would be a nice solid move, and in my mind you are locking up the best player in Miggy. I think Miggy over the next 3-5 years will turn out more valuable than Big Papi.

I think that is the way I would go. Feel like tossing an opinon in here viewtopic.php?t=363995

Ok - I agree just live in Boston and like having pappi on the team.
You did like the deal for Abreu.

I would still have a pick in the 1st,3rd and 4th rounds.

Hah I live in NH so not far away from Boston. It would hurt me inside to move Papi, but there is no crying in baseball!

I think that is your best option, and picking up Abreu for his 20hr / 100rbi for your OF is a good move.
