I think this is one of those things where it depends on what you're looking at. Next 3 years, I'd rather have A-Rod, because he is almost certainly better next year, and the other two it will be close. After that, M-Cab is probably better. How certain are you about the longevity of this league? Could it break up next year? If so I'd go A-rod, because he helps the most THIS year. If these are guys who you've known for a long time, then go M-Cab, because 10 years from now A-rod will have retired (probably) but M-Cab will probably still be giving you first round value.

In the first half he batted .281/.350/.459 with 11 HR, 48 RBI, and 37 runs in 303 ABs. Now don't get me wrong those are good numbers but those aren't numbers you want from a top 5 guy. Yes he had a fantastic second half but generally I want a player that will give me numbers all year long. Again not saying Cabrera is a bad choice at all but between Arod and Cabrera, I will take Arod.

He switched leagues! It's pretty clear that it took him a bit to adjust to American League pitching. You ignore his second half numbers and forget that he ended up leading the AL in homers and nearly led it in RBI. Funny enough, many would argue it was his worst full season as a pro. He's also EIGHT years younger than A-Rod. This can't be ignored in a dynasty, and I am not going to hand out advice based on the idea that this guy is going to quit in a few years so he should play for the best player this year. He'll get nearly as much value out of M-Cab for the next three or four years and will almost certainly get better numbers every year after that.
im approaching this as a dynasty that could last 10 years, so im not worried about it breaking up after a year or two...that being said, it sounds like this should be between arod and mcab for sure, and think im leaning towards mcabs youth right now, i dunno
I would strongly suggest MCab here due to the fact it is a dynasty....you're talking about a kid coming into his prime who is already a stud. Arod is still great, but he is 33 or so...and his numbers are bound to start falling, albeit slowly, back down to earth...while Miggy hasn't even cracked the surface of what he can do.
