Zimmerman for Butler & Brignac?

Postby cooper7d7 » Thu Nov 20, 2008 9:32 pm

I have already made this trade but am wondering if it was a mistake. My thinking was that Zimm has had a shoulder and wrist or thumb injury, I have Stewart, Gamel, Wood, Almanzar, ChrisDavis, and Pablo Sandoval, and I need some impact bats and MI depth, so why not? Thank you for anything you have to offer.

I gave Ryan Zimmerman and got Billy Butler and Reid Brignac.

I think the deal is fine. All three are question marks. Zimmerman had a down year last year but should rebound. Butler also had a disappointing season but is still very young and has a lot of potetial and Brignac could be a very nice MI in the near future. I think this trade could go either way but a perfectly fine trade.

Pretty much my thoughts as well...looking at the title I think I'd rather have Zimm, but then I see you have like 5 other 3B so I don't mind the trade much.

Pretty even trade. Probably worth tha gamble on Butler who could easily surpass anything Zimmerman does.

Can you get someone other than Butler? Seems like Zim is worth more than Butler and Brignac.

I would think you could get more for Zimmerman who has .300 30Hr in him, which is very good from the hot corner. I like Butler and expect him to have a nice career, but Brignac doesn't do much for me. Not a terrible deal, but I would have stuck with Zimm.

I like Zimmerman but considering your teams depth at 3rd, getting Butler may prove to be a good deal for you. Brignac will probably be nothing special fantasy wise, but it doesn't hurt to get some MI depth.
