Phils Trade Golson to Rangers for Mayberry

i know nothing about mayberry. im primarily posting this to see if anyone has an opinion on mayberry.

golson was once a highly touted prospect but has seems to be lost at the plate and strikes out a ton for the amount of power he has (mediocre). he is pretty fastand is solid in the field though. no big loss here from a phillies standpoint.

i hear mayberry has some power and is righthanded, which we need. i also know he's 25, two years older than golson.

I've heard a little bit about Mayberry. Some people love him, think he's one of the more underrated prospects in baseball. Others think he's unlikely to really be more than a bench player if he makes it to the majors. He has good power but lacks plate discipline.

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Texas Rangers. At least do a little research beforehand.

Horrible deal on the part of the Phillies. Mayberry was good in the mid-1970s when he played for the Royals, but he's got to be almost 60 now. It's hard to envision him ever cracking the lineup. You have to wonder why on earth they would deal for him. Does 48183 Whitey Herzog work for the organization now, or something?
