I'm rebuilding and my teams terrible, I just took over this team and its a 16 team, auction salary Dynasty.
What do you think of the following deal:
I receive: Carlos Lee ($12 MM), Yovanni Gallardo ($404 K), Jhoulys Chacin (3 options) I send: Carlos Beltran ($18.5 MM), Dice K ($8 MM), 09' Rookie picks 3.7 and 3.11
My current salary is $20,378,000 MM underneath the cap. This deal would add $14,096,000 MM to my cap in my rebuilding road.
I don't know about that one....seems like if you're trying to rebuild you need not trade away rookie picks. But what's your league setup? Is this a limited keeper, a dynasty? I guess if you redraft for next year, my answer would change if you need cap room.
Since you are rebuilding, Gallardo at less then 1/2 million is a great deal. And with your team being 34 million under the cap, you should be able to start spending some money in the near future to make up for the loss of Beltran and Matsuzaka. I would make the deal.
I like this trade for you since it opens up alot of cap space and Gallardo at a huge bargain. And it looks like we're talking about draft picks in the 40 or so range. Looking at your last post there are 16 teams with at least 10 protected players. Unless I'm wrong it doesn't seem like you are going to be grabbing great prospects here.
Getting younger and saving $ with Gallardo. Lee is no slouch anyways, and I would rather have him when taking into consideration the $. The picks don't look like anything great, and Chacin has some pretty good upside for the future.
It's not just Gallardo for dirty cheapy that's good for this deal, but Lee @ $12M >> Beltran $18M, and I'm assuming this league has many many minor leaguers owned, and Chacin for a pair of 3rd round picks sounds well worth it. I like it on all levels
hey guys thank for the responses so far. I went ahead and took the deal. I've been able to grab Brett Wallace, Jhoulys Chacin, Jordan Zimmerman, Logan Morrison and I'm hoping for Daniel Schlereth and one of Jake Arrieta/Michael Taylor with my next 2 picks. So hopefully things are looking better in this rebuilding..
