Supposedly 140 mill over 6 years. Any way he turns it down? He likes his home state and league better, supposedly, but I can't really see him turning this down.

And the union won't let him turn down the best offer.

Hopefully we get this wrapped up early. Sabathia said he wants to be done with it soon, so I'm glad the Yankees are getting right to the point.

i would love to see Sabathia take a lesser contract with one of the other clubs after him (Milwaukee/Angels/ect). not just because i dont want him to go to the Yankees, but couldnt that have an effect on all other pitchers, making their price value go down?

You want him? I wouldn't want any sp for that long, amount, and average.

Under most circumstances I wouldn't either, but he's the best arm to hit free agency in a long time. I have many concerns about the workload he's taken on over the last couple of years, and I don't view him as a sure thing at all, but I also feel that the Yankees are in a position where they can take a chance. They have the wallet to bail themselves out in case this does not work out, especially since they have cleared so much money.

Kevin Brown was a trade in which they dumped Jeff Weaver. Carl Pavano was an obvious bust, but to compare Sabathia's pedigree to his is insulting. Sabathia could very well blow his arm out and be an albatross of a contract, but again, he's is the best talents to hit the market since probably Mussina in '01 or Randy Johnson in '99. If he busts, that will suck, but the Yankees are one of the few teams who can recover from a busted contract. He's a guy worth taking a shot on, IMO.

Yeah they don't really have a choice. I am afraid he's going to suffer a major arm injury sometime in the next 3 years, but what can you do. I do know that the Yankees would take a lot better care of his arm and he wouldn't be throwing 250 innings in any of those years.
