Help consolidating to 10? WHIR

Postby SAV » Sun Nov 16, 2008 4:44 pm

I am paring down to 10 keepers. Standard 5X5 head-to-head league EXCEPT that we use OBP in place of Avg. Thinking Johan & Webb on the pitching side and wanting to keep 8 hitters. Any suggestions on who to deal and who to pursue as I consolidate further by trades?

Thank you!

NICE, I didn't know Fangraphs did that for you.
Although, I'm tempted to guess people do not like clicking links to look at your rosters (I don't mind)

Without knowing how many teams in the league it's hard to know what level we are comparing keepers to, but here goes nothing. By the way, I did not see Johan on your roster.
To go with your Johan and Webb, I'd go with these bats (in no order): Berkman, Bay, Mauer, Sizemore, Utley, Ortiz, Crawford and probably Youk. Not sure about Youk or taking it on Ellsbury or Zambrano. Guess it partially depends on the DH/Util vs MI/CI your league uses.

Ziegler, Jenks and Marmol (if the Cubs are truely over Wood) are nice for saves but I typically try to not keep closers unless they are one of the top 3.

Good luck!

Well, here would be my top 8 hitters to keep on your team:

C Mauer
1B Berkman
2B Utley
SS A.Ramirez
3B Youkilis (if eligible)
OF Sizemore
OF Bay

7th spot is a tossup for you.....Ellsbury, Crawford, Dye and Ortiz would all be acceptable depending on what you want. I'd probably go with Ellsbury or Crawford due to age though.
Funny how your team is setup, because you have great starters at every position. You'll definitely be in the playoffs next year if you draft some real good pitchers.

The smartest thing obviously is use any extra pieces you have and go after Hanley Ramirez and/or ARod(the obvious 5x5 kings). You can probably sell high on A.Ramirez and Youkilis for either position, and throw in some of the other guys like Crawford, Dye, etc.... Get er done!
