Joba for Atkins, WHIR

Postby labardo31 » Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:34 am

Keeper league (7 players), 6x6 roto.

I'm on the verge of acquiring Longo, so Atkins will become expendable. I'm looking to get my keeper set to 4 bats and 3 arms...Joba would be joining

Hanley
Chutley
Sizemore
Rios
Felix
Webb

So right now Atkins is in that keeper mix, but could be replaced by Longo. I think I'd slide Rios out of the keeper core if I were to acquire Joba.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance, and leave a link if you'd like an opinion on an issue of your own.

Atkins for Joba is a steal. Atkins is likely to be dealt, and his road average is something like .230. good deal.

Not sure if Joba will log many innings in 09. He will most likely start in the pen as he did in 08.

I'd probably trade Atkins for someone else.

Not a huge Joba fan (like him, but not as much as some folks), but I think he's pretty clearly better than Atkins. If you can make this deal do it.

That said, I'm not sure I like Joba better than Rios. I know this advice is cliche, but I'd try to package the two of them for an upgrade, even if not's a big one (Markakis?).

It would be a good deal, except for the fact that I wouldn't keep Joba over Rios. If you could use the deal, and then flip Joba and someone for an upgrade, then you could be onto something.

Joba is definitely way overhyped in real life AND fantasy, but I still like this trade for you, especially if Atkins moves out of Coors

Joba is dominant, and Atkins may soon be leaving Colorado (as everyone said). Also, with the Yankees need for a SP, why not turn to Joba? So yes, trade Atkins for Joba.

Can you help with mine?

I would do the trade. It is to early to know what the Yankees will do with Joba. If they don't land a starter from free agency then he could be a starter. If they land a couple then he probably will be a reliever. Either way Joba has potential than Atkins right now. I also prefer Rios over Joba but would looke to package Joba and Rios for a better keeper. I am sure there is someone out there that would take both of them on. If not then just wait to see what happens. If Joba becomes a starter than keep him and hope for the best if not then keep Rios as he will be a top 15 OF next season.

These were my thoughts verbatim when I read the original post. I would make the deal only because Joba should have more trade value than Atkins. There's always an irrational Yankee fan around :-D
