Dynasty 3B: Blalock or Kouzmanoff?

Which 3B- Blalock or Kouzmanoff?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a Dynasty League, which 3B would you rather sign to a 3 year contract?

Hank Blalock has a better home park but is always hurt.

Kevin Kouzmanoff has a pithers home park and doesn't take walks.

Each player is in the midst of what should be his baseball prime (age 27-30).

Will the Rangers Chris Davis or the Padres Chase Headley take ABs/jobs away from these guys?

Which player is more likely to be traded into a better situation?

%-6 If I'm forced to take one it's Blalock. Proven it before.

I'm taking Kouz. There's a chance he can get traded to a better park this offseason. I think as long as he's in SD, Headley will be in LF.

As far as Blalock, indications are that he's done playing 3B (likely losing eligibility for the 2010 season). And he has significant injury issues.

Kouz. Blalock will spend 1/3 of the season on the DL and is a very good candidate to get traded in which case his value drops even more.

I agree with the last 2 posts and go with Kouz. They're pretty equal now. Kouz can only see his value rise with a trade while Blalock can only go down.

Kouz has potential to do something more where as Blalock is nothing more the WW fodder.

I would take Blalock. He will be in his prime next year (28), and had a monster last month: .337 8HR in 95ABs. The guy has had shoulder issues, a rib removed and a torn hamstring. The only one that is concerning to me is the shoulder where he missed 15 days in July. The guy was projected to be a top player in the league, but has never put it all together due to injury. I think this next year he has a chance to finally capitalize on his potential. Kouzmanoff is a solid player, don't get me wrong, but Blalock has more potential and plays in a better park. Kouzmanoff is the safe pick, but I will take the upside of Blalock one last time.

It is never a good sign when a player as young as Blalock suffers through so many injuries and misses significant time. He has played 58 and 65 G in each of last two season despite playing in a DH league. He is reminding me a lot of Chavy. At some point the cascading injuries will start eroding his skills.

I'd take Kouz over Blalock pretty easily, even with Kouz in Petco. :-)
