I would still keep Hart over Chipper.

This is correct.

You could probably re-draft Chipper if you like him that much.

Haren is gone unfortunately. So I guess I AM crazy for contemplating Chipper over Hart? 3B just looks awfully thin next year whereas there's plenty of options similar to Hart in the OF. I guess I'll keep him based on his age and hope he picks it up next year.

Just K's too much for my liking at this point.

You're not that crazy. I don't see 3B being deep either.

That said, I'd take Hart over Chipper. Granted, Chipper's skills haven't totally eroded when he's played, but it's almost a given he picks up his usual injury and leaves your 3B spot bare for a while unless you had a ready alternative on board. Hart's high K and low BB rates are worrisome to suggest he won't go 30/30, but with Ned Yost no longer there, perhaps Hart moves up to the leadoff or two-hole, where I'd say he's better suited hitting. The dropoff in 3B is quite sizable, but if you have targets such as Zimmerman, Alex Gordon, Hank Blalock, maybe even Chris Davis, I wouldn't linger on 3B scarcity quite as much.

I rather have Chipper myself. What Chipper puts up in his 135-145 games probably equals what you are getting from Hart in the full season when all is considered. Hart may improve, but I tend to think he lies somewhere around the mid-point of what he did the past 2 seasons. Which is not bad mind you, but I still think I rather have Chipper.
