Jake Peavy

Woke up this morning to see that the Cubs are the supposed front-runner in aquiring him. Does anyone have any specifics on this? Or is this just speculation by a sports writer trying to stir things up?
If the Cubs do not have to give up any regulars for him, it would be crazy. I know that every offseason, the Cubs express interest in many big names, but usually do not come through.
Gotta admit though (yes, these are the Cubs, who find any way to come up short) that adding Peavy would be monster.

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan says the Cubs have moved ahead of the Braves in the Jake Peavy trade talks.

The Padres are reportedly asking for Jeff Samardzija, Felix Pie, Sean Marshall and Ronny Cedeno for Peavy. Getting Samardzija might be more trouble than it's worth considering there are still questions about how he'll fit for the long term. If the Padres want him, then it might result in either Pie or Marshall being taken out of the deal. Without Samadrzija involved, perhaps they could get Pie, Marshall, Cedeno and a couple of younger guys, with Donald Veal, Tyler Colvin and Jose Ceda among the possibilities. The names of Rich Hill, Mike Fontenot and Kevin Hart could also come up. Petco would seem to be the perfect place to try to get Hill turned around.

They can have all of those players, except maybe Pie and Colvin. At least they're not asking for Vitters, so I'm behind this.

Funny how there is a thread on this now that reports are the CUBS are the front runners. The Braves have been in on Peavy for weeks now.
