I am going to keep to keep two of those guys in a 10 team, roto, keep 4 league. My other two keepers are Hanley and Sizemore. I am leaning towards keeping McCann and Phillips. I think McCann is in for a good year and is at the right age to really blossom. Phillips I think can bounce back. I think CC is great, but the heavy workload worries me. Halladay i wonder if his K rate will slip and I am not sure I want to keep a SP anyway. Adrian Gonzalez, I think 1B is much shallower than in years past. Abreu, hard to ignore his steady numbers, but he is getting up there and who will he play with next year?
Who would you guys keep?
Any help is appreciated and I will help if you if you help me,
Thanks, The Cow
Give Snakes his due!!!! Snakes deserves the fantasy expert icon!!! Go Snakes!!!!
McCann is very good C, but no C is worth keeping over an ace SP. C's are way over-valued in leagues and have been since Piazza was hitting 30+ Hrs each year.
Phillips regressed this year and why would you take the chance and let an ace SP go in favor of a mediocre 2b?
AGonzo is a very good 1b, but not in Halladay or Sabathia territory value-wise.
Abreu is too old and you do not know where he ends up.
You could trade up and get rid of one of the SPs if you wanted to for an elite bat, but all else being equal I think you have to keep Sabathia and Halladay to go along with HRam and Sizemore.
It is a pretty tough choice between Sabathia, Halladay, and Phillips. But I wouldn't call Phillips a mediocre 2B. He did struggle in 08, but I believe he can and will bounce back next year. If you can I would try to make a 2-for-1 trade.
If you can't make a trade, I would go with Sabathia and Halladay as well. Phillips did struggle this year so maybe you can get him back in the draft. Sabathia and Halladay have a ton of upside. Halladay is the definition of consistent and Sabathia was unreal when he went to MIL.
The only thing that worries me about Sabathia is will he still pitch with the same intensity he did in the 2nd half and will NL hitters adjust to him? Or if he goes back to the AL, will Sabathia make the adjustment? Either way, I think Sabathia will be a solid pitcher (he just won't be that untouchable guy who can pitch every 3 days).
I'm keeping Halladay and Phillips/CC. Halladay used the slider for the higher k rate this year. He might be even better this season. If CC signs with an AL team, I am keeping Phillips. But if CC stays in the NL, I am keeping him because he's capable of putting up numbers that approach this season's second half. When do you have to decide? If you have to decide soon, I'd probably go with Phillips.
McCann is not anywhere in this discussion as Halladay and Gonzalez would be your next 2 choices. If Sabathia signs somewhere unfavorable, I would easily pull him out and replace him with Halladay.
