I like Smoak a little better than Alonso due to the Arlington effect. Both of them have their paths filled by young guys, so it will be interesting to see how it is worked out. Texas has 1B/3B Blalock and CDavis, while Alonso has Votto in his way. For CIN at least, I have read that when Alonso is ready, they will move Votto to LF, because Alonso can only play 1B.

Living in Ohio, yes, I have heard that too. Essentially, they are looking for a Votto LF, Stubbs CF, Bruce RF for the future.
In Texas, its even more complicated than that though they do have a DH.
I'd have to go with B even with Triunfel's performance in the AFL. Wieter's can flat out hit and, even with his injury history, I think Miller bounces back and either anchors the Indian's SP's or bullpen in the future. I admit my preference hinges a lot on a pitcher who hasn't shown he can remain healthy but I'm encouraged that his problem this year didn't stem from elbow or shoulder problems.

Texas should beat themselves with the idiot stick if they think about playing those catchers at 1B or DH in the long-term. Yes I know that Texas has been reluctant to deal any catchers, but I doubt any of them can do better than avg numbers (if that) at 1B or DH which negates any value that they have.
I don't think it's all that complicated for Smoak in the long run since Blalock likely won't be brought back after '09 imo. DH - Davis 1B - Davis 3B - Davis C - Teagarden, Salty, and Ramirez
Max Ramirez is the one catcher who is legitimately most likely going to DH, his defense is worse than salty's with less perceived potential for improvement and his handling of pitchers got poor reviews in his brief stint w/ the rangers this year. And given his 1.067 ops in the minors this year and .923 line last year, he is by far the most likely to be able to hit as a solid DH anyway. By far the best combination of contact, power and patience of the trio.
Estimating 2010 as smoaks likely arrival time, Blalock is probably gone to FA. Teagarden is probably the catcher with salty traded, though it could be the opposite or one backing up the other. Max is probably fighting for DH time. You could conceivably fit the trio in with Davis 3b, Smoak 1b, Max DH, but I think the Ranger's would prefer better defense at 3b (very possibly moving michael young there to allow Andrus to play short) and max/smoak fighting it out for the DH/1b slot not taken by Davis.
Of course everything can change in a a year and a half, they could bust or have more trades than expect, but thats the general projection in rangers fandom.
I ranked #L next, altho maybe I should have chosen #F. Andrus project to be an everyday SS, and while there are questions about his bat, his SBs make him very valuable in roto. And if Jennings can stay healthy, he's another great speed guy. And I think Tillman will be a stud.
#F next, which seems to be the consensus favorite.
#D clearly has the worst prospects to me (Venditte???). #C doesnt compare w the rest either.

Okay, since we're at the midway point...which team drafted the best prospects now?
