i wouldn't go that far with it though. sometimes spring training numbers can be an indication of promise for the new year.
while not the world's greatest example, last season tony armas jr was looking like he had a good chance to bust out for a career year before injury cut his season really short.
in spring training he had something like 27k and 3 BB, which wowed me to the point of picking him up on all 3 of my squads. i think in the end he was 2-1 with a 2.61 so it helped out even tho it was a little bit.
