OOTP Baseball 8 or 9?

Postby jfg » Fri Oct 24, 2008 4:21 pm

9 is 40 bucks and 8 is 20. All I really want to do is historical simulation and playing around with that kind of stuff. Should I just go for 8, or is 9 a huge upgrade?

Can't really help because I don't have 9 just 8 and I usually play with Mogul more. Not because it's better, just simpler.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I used to be huge into OOTP. I believe JTSluggers was as well. They really hit the nail on the head with OOTP8 -- it was the best one released in some time. From what I understand from about a dozen of so people who I used to play online leagues with, and still play pretty hardcore, 9 is worth ponying up the cash for. ;-D

I played historical leagues with the Lahman database on Mogul and was unimpressed.

What's different between 8 and 9? I really only want to do historical leagues so are there things I should pay 20 dollars more for?

I ended up buying 8. I didn't realize that it was almost the same thing as Championship Manager which I wasted hours and hours on in college!

I have 9, and it's great - but I don't do historical leagues. I can't enumerate the differences between the two for you.

Sorry. :-/

No problem, 8 is good enough for how I want to use the game, and I'm used to the format from Championship Manager.
