That's probably similar to Boras saying last offseason that the bidding on A-Rod was starting at $300M.

Will the Yankees be bidding against themselves again? What other teams would want to go that high? I really don't see the Red Sox making that move. Or the Dodgers, Angels, or any other team for that matter.

Yeah, I don't know who is even in this race with the Yankees. I think it's going to come down to what Sabathia wants. Does he want the money? Then he'll sign with the Yankees. Does he want to pitch in the NL? Then he'll stay with Milwaukee. Does he want to be home in California? Then he'll sign in LA.
I don't think anyone is going to come close to what the Yankees will offer him in terms of $$ though.
I think it will be hard to refuse all that money as a professional. I guess working at home or being in a comfortable situation is nice and all but he isn't going to pitch forever.

The union is so powerful that I can't see the premiere FA pitcher giving a hometown discount or taking less pay to play in the NL. I think those things will only be factors in the case of matching bids.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I like Burnett. He is the type of guy who can absolutely dominate for a stretch or two. If he gets hot in the playoffs then he could carry a staff.
Certainly but there are the obvious health questions. And it's going to take 5/$70 minimum to sign him. Is he worth that? I'm not sure.
Not sure. I don't think it would be the end of the world especialy with a lot of guys coming off the payroll. Burnett is absolutely filthy. There are very few pitchers how have better pure stuff and able to harness it like he can.
