What do u think of this strategy?

Im in a yahoo head-to-head league, and the way its scored is really pissing me off. Id prefer a point system or rotisserie, but in the league you get 1 point for each win over ur opponent in the following categories: R 2B HR RBI SB BB K AVG IP W L CG SV H ER BB K ERA ... Im thinking of using my top 10 or so picks on hitters, not drafting any starters at all, and taking all closers as my pitchers....This way, every week i will win ER, SV, BB, L, and H for pitchers, and possibly ERA or K. That puts me 5-6 at worst, and ill my hitters will hafta do is go 4-3....what do u think?...is this too cheap or is it a good idea?

If there's a modest weekly minimum for IP you might be totally screwed. Make sure you check that first.

Do you really want to win by abusing a system that doesn't work?

Won't work.

I've thought about it before, but what will happen is you'll win a majority of offensive categories, split or lose most pitching categories and you'll find yourself in the middle of the league because you're hedging your bets.

Build a total team and dominate instead.

This league is WAY too anal obsessive........you need a new league for sure....

Punting categories is not at all un common in H2H ...

basically that is all that this is it is 7x9 H2H

Ideally you should get rid of two pitching cats.
Having ER and ERA is kinda redundant
And you can pretty much guarantee a tie in CG's every week.

7x7 would giive it more balance

as for your plan, I never try and punt any category even in my H2H leagues. Definetly not going into a draft. If Injury strikes my closers or speedy leadoff guys, then I may look at punting, but never before a draft.

In your plan you are automatically giving up on IP W CG and K - with bottom of the barrel relievers this means that you are also giving up on ERA as well - that is that's 5 of 16 cats that you are giving up on. You also have no guanantee of winning those hitting cats either.

Doesn't sound like a great plan. It will probably get you to the playoffs but you will lose to teams with good SP and a balanced hitting lineup.

alright thanks guys...im gonna try to get the commissioner to change the system before my draft, especially now that there is an odd number of teams and wed hafta use byes....im still unsure what ill do if he doesnt change it....any more thoughts?
