Agreed. Same with Berk Breathed and Bloom County. We have umpteen decades of Beetle Bailey and Cathy, but comparatively little of what I consider to be wonderful comics.

I get what you guys are saying about going out on top. All the same, it's hard to argue with more Calvin, more Far Side or more Bloom County. Maybe that's just me being greedy, or a view brought on by the vacuum left in their absence.
I really haven't read the comics pages since Watterson stopped with Calvin & Hobbes.

Until I saw the article saying he was retiring Opus yesterday, I actually had no idea it existed. I don't really read newsprint anymore, I just get my news online. I haven't been looking for comics, I guess.
