2008 Postseason Predictions

Postby BronXBombers51 » Wed Oct 01, 2008 12:45 am

Let's hear'em.

Divisional Series:

Los Angeles Angels def. Boston Red Sox (5 games)
Tampa Bay Rays def. Chicago White Sox (4 games)
Los Angeles Dodgers def. Chicago Cubs (5 games)
Philadelphia Phillies def. Milwaukee Brewers (5 games)

League Championship Series:
Los Angeles Angels def. Tampa Bay Rays (5 games)
Los Angeles Dodgers def. Philadelphia Phillies (6 games)

World Series:
Los Angeles Dodgers def. Los Angeles Angels (7 games)

I am pulling for the Cubs, Dodgers, Rays, in that order. But as long as Boston loses, I won't be upset. I think the winner of LA/Chc goes to the World Series. The series is a coin flip for me. I think the Dodgers have a pitching advantage, and while the Cubs are overall a better team, I just have visions of Manny going berserk and dominating the world.

I can't really separate what I want to happen from what I predict will happen... I think a Red Sox - Rays ALCS would be awesome, topped only by a Red Sox - Dodgers World Series. In fact, if MLB is anything like the NBA, they'll make sure the Red Sox and Dodgers meet as the ratings would be HUGE:

Divisional Series:
Red Sox def. Angels in 4 games (I think Lester is going to dominate)
Rays def. White Sox in 5 games
Dodgers def. Cubs in 4 games
Brewers def. Phillies in 5 games

Championship Series:
Red Sox def. Rays in 7 games
Dodgers def. Brewers in 6 games

World Series
Red Sox def. Dodgers in 4 games (because we always sweep :-b )

Divisional Series:

Red Sox def. Angels (5 games)
Rays def. White Sox (4 games)
Cubs def. Dodgers (3 games)
Brewers def. Phillies (5 games)

League Championship Series:
Rays def. Red Sox (6 games)
Cubs def. Brewers (6 games)

World Series:
Cubs def. Rays (6 games)

I really have no vested interest in this year's playoffs. The teams I'm rooting for are the Rays (great story), Cubs (Sweet Lou), and White Sox (Griffey). If one of them wins then that would be great. Really the only team I hate in the playoffs is the Angels so that's nice. At least I don't have them and the Yankees around to muck up my postseason. :-D

:-?

That statement didn't have to do with my picks, it had to do with my personal feelings. Boston winning is the only scenario that I'd be upset with. Unfortunately, I don't see Tampa or Chicago beating them in a 7 game series, so it's either the Angels or the NL. Hopefully the Angels get them out of the way early, although I'll admit the Series would be more fun if it were Sox-Cubs or Sox-Dodgers.

I couldn't see it happening any other way. :-)
