David Wright and SB's

Anyone have any input as to why Wright's SB's fell from 34 to 15? Is 15-20 SB's all we can expect from him with his 34 last year being an anomally? Any input would help.

i'm not sure as to the reason why, maybe the managerial change, but the mets ran a lot less this year as a team. In 2007 they stole 200 bases to 46 caught stealing, and in 2008 they only stole 138 to 36 caught stealing. Thats about a 43% drop in stolen base attempts. Wright went from 39 attempts to 20 attempts for a 49% drop. 2006 was a similar year to 2008 so my thinking is that 2007 was somewhat of an aberration in how much the mets ran and that we should expect wrights SB totals in the future to be closer to his 2008 total than his 2007 total. I'd be expecting in the 15-20 range going forward.

Batting 3rd the whole season with 2 productive bats in Delgado & Beltran behind limits opportunities as well.

If Jerry settles in on a Reyes-Beltran-Delgado-Wright order next year, you could see that SB by 10 or so.

dwright is their best hitter, and as the best hitter should hit 3rd for the next decade

It seems like SB's are tough to predict with guys like Wright. Berkman and Holliday both considerably more SB's this year than any other year.
