looks good, nice progress being made . only thing is the lighting effect on the ball is very distracting, it'd be better if you put lighting somewhere else though .

You think? I thought the lighting effect on the ball was badass...
in my opinion the lighting looks too forced. ill agree with abrage that the lighting on wieters doesnt quite look right, nor does the johan. its just too specific and too distinct.

I actually didn't do the glow effect on Johan. It came from a professionally done poster I found on the web. As for the Wieter's lighting effect, it was my intention to get the crystal glow effect on the ball. I actually like the way it looks. I'm still getting the hang of using lighting, gradient, and lens flare effects. Any advice on how to make the players "pop" is appreciated.

try layering the player, mess around with a bunch of different layers using overlay/soft light/etc and different opacities. i like putting a small gaussian blur of the player underneath all the other layers to separate it a bit more from the background. just fool around with that kind of stuff and different lighting effects to get a feel of it.

haha, just trying to help you get better bud, i practiced quite a bit/watched tutorials/got a lot of advice from snakes and smoove before i really started to get the hang of it.
i do like the picture choice in that one more, but i would still lower the opacity on the faded one a bit more and try some layering on the main picture like i said in my previous post.
