Well it was the 3rd inning....they could use him there, he's a decent bat himself, and use the "more capable" bats later in the game. Thats the way I took it anyway.

exactly how i did as well. they were already short a player since weeks couldnt play and they were going with a shorter bench by going with 12 pitchers on their playoff roster.
